PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO THE BYLAWS AND CHANGE TO THE STANDING RULES OF THE POLK COUNTY GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY, INC.


This change was presented at the April meeting. It will be voted upon by the members present at the May meeting.

 


1--The following amendment to the bylaws (Article VI, paragraph one) has been proposed. The word change is in boldface. This amendment requires a two-thirds majority vote.

 

 

ARTICLE VI ----- ELECTIONS, OFFICERS AND DUTIES

The elected officers, also known as the Board of Directors, of the Society for the purposes of meeting Federal and State requirements shall be President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and three (3) Directors at Large, with the total number of board members now equaling seven (7) directors. They shall be elected by a simple majority of the members in good standing who are present at the regular November meeting of the fiscal year. Write-in votes will not be counted toward the final tally. Nominations for officers shall be presented at the regular October meeting of the Society.

 

 

2--The following addition to the standing rules of the Polk County Genealogical Society has been proposed. The new rule will be placed in the “Duties of the Officers,” Director at Large section of the standing rules if passed. The word change is in boldface. A simple majority is all that is needed for this vote.

DIRECTORS AT LARGE

The Directors at Large shall be responsible for:

  • presiding over meetings in the absence of the president and vice president
  • serving as parliamentarian for the group


 
Business meetings are the first Thursday of every month at the
Polk County Genealogical Society Research Facility, on the square in Bolivar, MO
