This collection contains the papers John Playter and Helen Chappell collected in their research on the veterans of Polk County. Mr. Playter, a veteran of WWII, worked diligently to collect the names of any veteran who had lived in Polk County or were buried in Polk County. The final compilation was finished in March 1987.

This is the final list of veterans compiled by Mr. Playter and Mrs. Chappell which lists veterans from Pre Civil War through the Viet Nam War, also including Peace Time Veterans.2

The work is in a binder divided by Wars containing 84 pages.
