This box contains several different school records that were received by the County Clerk’s Office. These records include ESTIMATES, APPLICATION FOR STATE SCHOOL MONEY, COUNTY CLERK’S REPORT OF APPLICATIONS, COUNTY CLERK’S REPORT TO THE COMMISSIONER OF EDUCATION, COUNTY CLERK’S REPORT TO THE STATE BOARD OF EDUCTION

Folders 1-14 hold ESTIMATES which is "An Estimate of the Amount of School Moneys Needed for the Ensuing Year". By law (Section 10347, R. S. 1939) school districts were required to file this paper with the County Clerk on or before May 15. All these records include the names of the President of the School Board, District Clerk or Secretary, County Superintendent, and the County Clerk. Earlier records also include the number of teachers hired and the enumeration of the district.

    Folders 15-17 hold the APPLICATION FOR STATE SCHOOL MONEY that by law (Sections 10390, 10454, H.B. 307 Laws of Mo., 1947) each district had to file with the County Superintendent of Schools between June 15 and June 30. The County Superintendent approved the application and filed said applications with the County Clerk before July 5. The County Clerk then summarized the applications and forwards it to the Board of Education before July 15. These forms include attendance enrollment of resident and non resident students and number of teachers in the district. Also included is the name of the Board President, Secretary of the Board and the County Clerk. There are two variations of the form—one for six member boards and one for three member boards (rural schools).
